A beautiful love story set to music.
A secret from her past means Heledd must hide how she feels about Rosemary, but the time they spend working and performing together is enough for Heledd – until a near miss with a speeding car forces her to rethink everything she thought she knew.
When the orchestra is mysteriously summoned to perform in the Welsh village where Heledd grew up – a village she hasn't returned to in decades – the life she's made for herself begins to unravel, and her secrets threaten to escape.
What did one wear, to an evening of pizza, wine and a private harp performance by the woman with whom one was secretly in love?
She brushed her teeth, put on her nightclothes. She got into bed and turned off the light. And then, in the darkness, she wept silently until her eyes burned and her whole body shook.
A sumptuous package of extras to really get you in the mood for A Duet for Invisible Strings.
In little over 25,000 words, Llinos never lets us assume anything. From the opening and the suggestion of a ‘mistake’, we’re never sure what’s going on. We can guess, we can hope, but we’re never certain.
And that’s what does it for me. The hope that the protagonists ll get together is what makes this romance novella so special.
A Duet for Invisible Strings is a beautiful romance, with paranormal elements and an older sapphic couple. There’s a real building of danger and claustrophobia as her world spirals away from Heledd. It’s beautifully accomplished and utilizes the shorter page-count perfectly.
Amazing chemistry, pining, and the beautiful world of classical music. How the hell does so much pining fit into such a short story?
A really lovely contemporary fantasy novella for adults, with a lovely, understated romance and such a perfect unfolding of its magical puzzle that the moment I finished reading it, I went straight back to the beginning and re-read it all immediately, just to savour how neatly all the hints and clues had been laid!
Really, really lovely and SUCH a satisfying read.
A tale of sweet, unrequited love, embittered by the possibility of devastating loss, set to music.
A Duet for Invisible Strings is a romance novella filled with music, mystery, and love, with a paranormal twist.
