A cozy crime mystery with additional cheese and wine...

A killer has struck in sleepy North Norfolk. Can Rags Whistledown stop them?

Set in beautiful North Norfolk, this novel peeps through the curtains of those living in an everyday terrace to uncover love, lust, and a clever, clever killer.

Rags Whistledown is a self-obsessed, vino-loving, guitar-playing, randy woman.

Rags is an accidental detective. She's not a professional - she's a jobbing freelance journalist who has a niche market in columns about sex toys and orgasms. Broke, in debt, homeless, she pitches up at her estranged father's house in Norfolk and takes it upon herself to investigate a death which the local police have written-off as an accident.

What could possibly go wrong...

Why you'll love The Terrace

Running away from debt, Rags stays with her father in his house on the eponymous terrace. She finds herself tangled up in the goings on of the street, or rather inserts herself into them. Rags is a skilled investigative journalist though, even if she did mess that particular career up.

The ensemble cast and varied points-of-view build an exciting and fast-paced story.

Reviews

Scatty but interesting... The descriptions of the North Norfolk landscape are beautifully written and evocative. Ms Gilfillan is an accomplished poet, and this shows in the lightly-handled lyricism. In the world outside her head Rags comes alive.

A wonderful detective story set in beautiful Norfolk with a feast of quirky characters to charm and beguile you through the twists and turns of this well-written novel. I don't know Norfolk, but certainly feel like I know a corner of it now! And the different characters were a delight to encounter, so well-drawn and original! I look forward to reading more from this author.

I loved the book from the first page to the last. Well-written and amusing. Oodles of wonderful characters and an adorable dog. Who could ask for more?

Miss Clarke

I was drawn to this title as I have lived in Norfolk all my life and am incredibly fond of the North Norfolk coast where this book is set. If you’re looking for a nice easy read with a ‘who dunnit’ plot and a bit of romance thrown in then this book is for you. I really enjoyed it, a good book for sitting in the garden with a cuppa!

Rachel S

I haven't read a book in years but this I couldn't put down! I loved it! Rags Whistledown - what a character, I miss you already - no pressure Ms Gilfillan but I can't wait for Book 2!
